Full-Time Speech Therapist (February 2025 – September 2025), Part-Time Option with Potential for Full-Time Continuation [Posted 10/31/2024]

Are you a dedicated Speech-Language Pathologist passionate about making a difference in your clients' lives?  We are seeking a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist to work in our CARF accredited Outpatient Brain Injury Rehabilitation program. We are in Waltham, MA.

Position: Speech Therapist
Schedule: Full-time February - September; part-time with the potential for full-time continuation afterward
Location:M-Thurs 8:30-5:00pm in clinic Waltham, MA

About the Role:

As a full-time team member (32+ hours per week) from February 2025 through September 2025, you’ll have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by joining our multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals specializing in neurological care. Following this period, you will transition to a part-time role with the option to maintain or grow back into a full-time position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct assessments, develop treatment plans, and deliver speech therapy interventions to clients

  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team (PT, OT, and ST) to support comprehensive care with focus on community re-entry

  • Document progress and maintain accurate client records

  • Educate clients and families on strategies to maximize communication

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology (SLP)

  • Massachusetts SLP License (no CFs)

  • Strong clinical and interpersonal skills

  • 1-2+ years of experience working with neuro rehab preferred

  • Candidate must have a vehicle or way to travel within the community

Therapeutic Recreation Internship Program

(Updated 10/2/23) Title: Specialized Service Worker Intern (Therapeutic Recreation focus)

Dates of Position: Determined upon hiring, spring, summer, or fall start dates.

Weekly Schedule: Hours may vary (12 to 20 hours per week.) Position offers flexibility to work in conjunction with academic schedules.

Compensation: Stipend for travel time and mileage

Overview:

Assist in performing a variety of complex professional and administrative work in planning, developing, organizing, scheduling, directing, and implementing accessible recreational, and social programming for clients residing in long term care facilities. Will work under the direct supervision of the department’s Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS.)

Qualifications:

  1. Must be a student from an accredited college or university in Therapeutic Recreation and planning to become a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS)

  2. Skilled with personal computer including word processing, excel spreadsheets, PowerPoint, copy and fax machine.

  3. Have a personal computer.

  4. Have a valid driver’s license, and reliable transportation. Ability to drive between nursing homes.

  5. Travel time can range up to 40 minutes.

  6. First Aid and CPR certified.

  7. Valid TB test

  8. COVID19 vaccination (or medical/religious exempt obtained)

  9. Flu Shot

  10. CORI checks to be conducted.

Internship Program Objectives:

  1. Apply in practice the knowledge and skills acquired in the academic setting.

  2. Gain knowledge of leisure service delivery systems and their relationships to clients in long term care facilities.

  3. Become familiar with the leisure needs and interests of clients with varying disabilities.

  4. Function as a recreation professional and articulate ‘s status and needs during interdisciplinary care plan meetings.

  5. Collaborate with collateral contacts including nursing facility, Department of Developmental Services, and Community Rehab Care.

  6. Refine oral and written communication skills.

  7. Enhance critical thinking and analytic skills.

  8. Utilize and refine problem solving skills.

  9. Develop organizational and time management skills.

  10. Apply and enhance technology competence.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. The role of the intern is to provide thorough and consistent services to improve and/or maintain the individuals quality of life. 

  2. The intern is responsible for completing an annual Needs Assessment, with quarterly review.

  3. The intern completes an interest checklist with the client to gain a better understanding of the client’s likes and dislikes. 

  4. The intern works on the development of a Care Plan with relevant goals and objectives that support the client’s disability. Then carries out this Care Plan.

  5. The intern collects data, interprets the data, and incorporates it into the client’s monthly progress notes.

  6. The intern routinely re-evaluates the client’s services as it relates to their physical, cognitive, and social needs.

  7. The intern participates in Care Plan meetings at the client’s facility.

Internship Requirements and Assignments:

1.       Weekly Supervision

· The intern will meet with their assigned CTRS supervisor weekly. Supervision is structured to discuss in depth each client assigned to their caseload. Including the client’s Plan of Care and status of goals/objectives. Time to problem solve and generate activities to support the Plan of Care. A weekly report would be submitted following supervision.

2.       Mid-term and Final Evaluations

· The intern’s supervisor will complete both these evaluations and then discuss them with the intern. The mid-term evaluation will be completed approximately at the halfway point of the internship. The final evaluation will be completed at the start of the last week of the internship.

3.       Internship Evaluation

· The intern will complete an evaluation reflective of their internship experience with CRC.
